Nestled in 12 acres of forest on the southern shores of Lago Llqnquihue (pronounced Yan Kee Way) in the spectacular lake district of Chilean Patagonia, this world-class resort offers luxurious accommodation, fine dining, a wide variety of trophy trout waters, and quality outdoor activities for non-anglers.
The impressive focal point of the area is the 8,730-foot tall Volcano Osorno, at the waters' edge, forming the northeastern shoreline of the bay. It is one of the only places in the world where one can see a volcano in a stand-alone setting.
When you return to the lodge after a day of roughing it, you will be met with a level of comfort and service as spectacular as the natural surrounding. Enjoy the hot tub terrace—all sides of the terrace are enclosed in glass, sheltered from breezes, with views of the volcano and lake. The spa has a workout and equipment room, saunas and massage room.
The compound was carefully constructed over a five year period, with great attention to detail. Exposed, sandblasted post and beam construction throughout highlights beautiful local woods, black lava encrustations and old-world style craftsmanship. Decor features textured walls and hardwood floors, with leather and handcrafted furniture. Artwork is original, depicting ancient hieroglyphics. Beds come outfitted with goose down comforters, and the full bath has large fluffy towels and bathrobes. Central heating takes the chill off the cool early spring and late fall mornings.
Latitude 42 restaurant has achieved a reputation of its own, with over 30 wineries represented by 200 distinct wines and superb cuisine and service. Award-winning Chef Guillermo Munoz is involved in every meal that is prepared for the guests, whether it is a five course dining experience or a box lunch. The food and wine alone make Yan Kee Way Lodge a remarkable place to visit. There is also a bar, wine tasting cellar and a cigar bar.
Whether low-key or high adventure, the outdoor activity options at Yan Kee Way are numerous, exploring the Lake District forests, lakes, waterfalls, volcanos and local villages: kayaking, mountain biking, whitewater rafting, single and multi-day trekking expeditions, volcano climbs, canyoning, photo safaris, and horseback expeditions are available. The region's fertile fishing grounds provide a great opportunity to catch a record size wild resident trout, and, in the fall, salmon.
Yan Kee Way Lodge is included in our Private Travel Journey Chilean Odyssey or may be included in a customized Cox & Kings Private Travel Journey to Chile.
