Director of Product Development


Position Title: Director of Product Development

Position Summary

Cox & Kings, The Americas, is seeking a Director of Product Development to oversee and expand the company's growing product line. This position is ideal for an experienced product development manager with a strong drive to create best-in-class products, an entrepreneurial spirit, effective negotiation, relationship and project management skills, and a zeal for addressing marketplace needs, trends, and changes through unique product offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new compelling, unique products on a quarterly and ad hoc basis, and partner with destination specialists, marketing, and business development teams to create differentiated products for various audiences and distribution channels
  • Vet and contract destination management companies and other on-the-ground suppliers
  • Work in conjunction with destination specialists to maintain and strengthen relationships with on-the-ground suppliers and ensure that they are delivering services according to the high standards set forth in service-level agreements
  • Conduct research and analysis on a consistent basis to ensure that company products are appealing and priced competitively
  • Identify market trends and opportunities; propose and create FIT and group products that address trends and capture these business opportunities
  • Own product roadmap and calendars
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of products and services available in the marketplace at destinations worldwide and of products and services available through Cox & Kings, The Americas
  • In conjunction with business team, serve as a key point of contact for all new product and supply opportunities
  • Coordinate with sales and marketing teams to offer compelling incentives to travel advisors and clients
  • Ensure product content on website and other channels is up-to-date and accurate
  • Develop and deploy training of destination specialists, outside sales, travel advisors, and marketing and PR teams on new product offerings (including the organization of FAM trips)
  • Coordinate with other Cox & Kings divisions (Bentours, Tempo Holidays, SuperBreak, Cox & Kings U.K., Meininger and others) to leverage existing product and supply contracts


Skills and Abilities

  • Must possess demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Experience with online product distribution and/or dynamic packaging is a plus
  • Must possess exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, critical thinking and decision-making capabilities
  • Must have strong mathematic aptitude
  • Must have proven success contracting and negotiating
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Must have excellent organizational skills with demonstrated initiative and ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must be detail-oriented
  • Must perform well under pressure in fast-paced environment and meet required deadlines
  • Must be able to interact with employees at all levels within the organization
  • Attend relevant national and international trade shows as required
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite applications and proficient in basic computer operations


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • 7+ years' experience in similar position
  • Experience with custom-tailored luxury FIT products, and with contracting DMCs

Responsibilities include

  • Developing and overseeing the company's online marketing initiatives, including search engine, e-mail and social media marketing
  • Defining and managing the company's brand strategy and development; introduce new brands

Sales Director - Northeast US


Department: Sales - Cox & Kings, The Americas
Accountable To: Vice President - Strategic Accounts
Employment Status: Full-Time
Location: New York


Position Summary
The successful candidate will be a dynamic and results orientated individual who is intelligent, creative, forward thinking, and above all, able to demonstrate excellent sales skills and an entrepreneurial spirit with in a small team. Must have at least five to seven years travel industry-related sales experience with a sound knowledge of luxury products and high service orientation essential.

The successful candidate must embody a strong work ethic, excellent diplomatic skills, and should be able to work remotely and as a part of the team in LA. He or she must be able to plan and implement sales activity and not be afraid of making decisions, often within a tight timeframe in a fast-moving environment. Candidates should think creatively, and should have a sound grasp of both the industry and the relevant competition. They must be capable of making compelling high-level presentations and must possess strong skills in both written and oral communications.

Ultimately, the successful candidate will be both confident and competent. They will require the stature and poise to play a leadership role within the agency sales division of a leading global travel luxury company. Enthusiasm for the company's products must be clearly demonstrable, whilst their high ethical standards, honesty and resourcefulness will rapidly earn the respect of the team. A prerequisite will be the individual's ability to deliver on aggressive sales plans.

The Sales Director must be very "hands-on" and capable of both strategic and tactical implementation with minimal support staff. He | she will be responsible for the development and implementation of sales strategies designed to drive profitable revenue in their territory.


Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Establish and implement short-range and long-range territory key account objectives, goals and policies and procedures needed to manage the assigned area.
  • Develop targeted sales action plans to meet or exceed revenue targets through key agency accounts, preferred partner sales and other potential new business partnerships.
  • Find new accounts to expand and grow the business from assigned territory.
  • Create and maintain competitive travel information within territory to help management with changing and new market trends.
  • Build strong partnerships with key agency owners and key staff and share with the inside sales team to nurture and develop long term business.
  • Produce monthly sales reports with sales visits, presentations, new leads and other relevant info to inform management of the area business success, territory development and issues.
  • Use and maintain the company's CRM system so all team members always have up-to-date and accurate information.
  • Use existing sales tools and materials and work with the VP to continually develop materials needed to meet the needs of the market and keep Cox & Kings top of mind.
  • Work closely with the in house sales staff to ensure business is handled seamlessly as a team and we portray a unified approach to the market.
  • Represent the company at community events, conferences, trade shows and business meetings to promote the company as required.
  • Be the brand ambassador and instill confidence and loyalty in the Cox & Kings brand in the marketplace.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

  • 5 years of experience selling luxury products or services
  • Proven ability to target high net worth markets
  • Ability to hit the ground running | Self-starter
  • Understands global retail leisure outbound distribution strategies (American market traveling outbound through travel agencies)
  • Extensive international destination knowledge, including Cox & Kings destinations preferred.
  • Existing sales experience and a demonstrated track record of sales success required within a sales territory with a leading travel/hotel company.


Special Requirements

  • Valid Driver's License and car
  • Up to 75% business travel expected, including international destinations at times throughout the year.
  • Good understanding of global travel.
  • Strong computer skills as it relates to Microsoft Suite of products, CRM and Web-based applications
