Dinner at Casa Aliaga
The chance to dine with the Count & Countess of San Juan de Lurigancho in their family dining room is a singular experience. This private home is situated across the street from the Presidential Palace in Lima, Peru and has been in continuous occupancy to this day by 17 generations of the same family since 1535. Beautiful original furniture, family heirlooms and intricate carved wood detailing grace the 66 rooms of this colonial mansion.
Cooking Brazilian Style
Chef Yara Roberts and her husband Richard will host you at their home for a fun cooking class followed by dinner in the gorgeous colonial town of Paraty just south of Rio. Yara will demonstrate how to make each dish, inviting you to participate in their preparation; then everyone feasts. Throughout dinner, Yara will entertain you with stories about how each dish entered Brazilian culture, and stories about who prepared the dishes through the centuries.
Andean Cloud Forest Private Reserve
Travel to the Ecuadorian foothills of the great Antisana Volcano and visit an ecological reserve, sanctuary to endangered species such as the majestic Andean condor, spectacle bear, puma, and paramo wolf. The distinct flora and fauna of this tropical highland wilderness is only found in the Andes. A visit to the reserve is available by special permit only, and is included on our tour Classical Journey of Ecuador & the Galapagos.

Continue to Campo de Mayo, to get acquainted with dressage, steeplechase and horse jumping. Then enter the world of polo at the Hurlingham Club‚ the heart of polo in Argentina since the first national championship was played in 1893.
Mystical Earth Offering Ceremony
Machu Picchu was, and still is an important ceremonial center of the Incas. As the sun sets, you'll be escorted by your local Quechua Shaman up the Inca Trail to a sacred mountain location, then participate in a traditional ritual honoring Mother Earth. This ceremony even pre-dates Incan times.
