    Chester

    Spend the day exploring Liverpool, famous for its musical heritage, where the Beatles were born and raised. Where the River Mersey meets the Irish Sea, see the well-preserved 19th Century dockyards on the waterfront. Take in breathtaking 360° views from the rooftop of the towering Anglican Cathedral, the highest in the UK. Visit the Beatles Story museum and see the houses where John Lennon and Paul McCartney grew up. View the Cavern Club and Penny Lane before returning to your hotel in Chester.

    To Northern Wales

    Explore Chester this morning. Encircled by a glorious 2-mile ring of Roman and medieval walls, Chester is a rare blend of ancient and traditional. Visit the 16th Century Chester Cathedral, before departing for Northern Wales. In the Welsh seaside town of Llandudno, take a cable car to the Great Orme for the jaw-dropping panoramic views of the Bay, the Little Orme, the Conwy Estuary and miles out over the Irish Sea. Enjoy a walking tour of Conwy, with its medieval walls and imposing 13th Century Castle, as well as Britain's smallest house. Afterwards, continue to your accommodations.

    Northern Wales

    This morning, tour the National Slate Museum, which vividly brings back to life the inheritance of the North Wales slate industry, which roofed the industrial revolution. One of Britain's best-known upland areas, Snowdonia, Wales, is famous for its slate, mountainous terrain and epic landscape of glacially sculpted valleys and craggy peaks. Take a scenic ride on the Snowdon Mountain Railway and stop in the picturesque village of Betws-y-Coed and Beddgelert. Caernarfon Castle occupies a superb setting with the mountains of Snowdonia as a backdrop and wonderful views across the Menai Strait to Anglesey - this is where Prince Charles' investiture took place.

    To Cardiff
