Embark on an unforgettable wilderness adventure in Zambia, home to some of Africa's best wildlife viewing and most dramatic landscapes. This exciting journey showcases the country's diverse national parks, the breathtaking, unspoiled riverine ecosystem of the Lower Zambezi and the famed walking safaris of the South Luangwa. Then, travel to Malawi to swim in the clear waters of Africa's most beautiful lake and explore the dramatic landscapes and warm communities surrounding your lodge.

  • Day 1
    Arrive Lusaka - To Lower Zambezi NP

    Upon arrival in Lusaka, you will be met by your Cox & Kings local representative and escorted to your light aircraft flight to the Lower Zambezi National Park, a sprawling area of rivers and plains that remains one of the wildest areas in Africa.

  • Day 2 - 3
    Lower Zambezi National Park

    Over the next two days, Enjoy a variety of activities in the Lower Zambezi. During game drives and river excursions on the river, search for members of more than 50 mammal species, including lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and hippo. Watch tropical birds skim the surface of the water and call from the trees. And keep your eyes peeled for crocodile lazing on the riverbanks. Back at your camp, indulge in tasty home-cooked dinners and spend your evenings studying the constellations in the southern skies.

  • Day 4
    To South Luangwa National Park

    After breakfast this morning, fly by light aircraft to Mfuwe. From there, travel into South Luangwa National Park, which was the place where the walking safari was invented. It's still the best spot on the continent to track leopard, hippo, lion and wild dog with some of Africa's top guides.

  • Day 5
    South Luangwa National Park

    Whether you're on foot or in a safari vehicle, you'll be amazed by the impressive range of habitats in South Luangwa National Park. Thirsty animals, such as lion, zebra, antelope, buffalo, visit the many oxbow lakes near the camp with regularity. You can enjoy lunch or a drink in a comfortable hide while observing elephant bathing in the lake and the natural rhythms of the bush.

  • Day 6
    South Luangwa National Park

    Just as the herds migrate from one area to the next, today you'll move to your next camp. Upon arrival, check in and embark on a classic walking safari or game drive led by an expert naturalist guide. In the evenings, head to the campfire where you can share stories and indulges in sumptuous meals designed by the camp chef.

    Bilimungwe or Kapamba or Zungulila Camp - 2 Nights (B, L, D)
  • Day 7
    South Luangwa National Park

    Embark on a classic walking safari or game drive led by an expert naturalist guide. In the evenings, head to the campfire where you can share stories and indulges in sumptuous meals designed by the camp chef.

  • Day 8
    To Likoma Island

    After a last breakfast in the bush, continue to Mfuwe and fly via Lilongwe to Likoma Island on Lake Malawi, which is regarded as having the best marine diversity and abundance of life on the lake.

  • Day 9 - 11
    Likoma Island

    Enjoy three days on the lake, which is the world's most ecologically diverse lake. Its crystal-clear waters are home to more than a thousand species of fish. Spend some time soaking up the sun and swimming, snorkeling or kayaking the clear blue waters of the lake or experience the warm people of Malawi as you explore the island on foot or mountain bike. At the end of the day, sail into the sunset on one of the resort's sailboats.

    Depart Lilongwe

    Fly back to Lilongwe and connect to your onward flight.
