Botswana: Wildlife Expedition — New!
On this wildlife adventure, begin your journey at the mighty Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, before entering Botswana’s northern frontier and the elephant-rich Linyanti Reserve bordering Chobe National Park. Then journey into the 6,000-square mile maze of lagoons, channels and islands that comprise Botswana’s Okavango Delta, Africa’s “last wilderness,” where you can search for stalking lions, sly leopards, herds of elephants, gangly giraffes and an incredible variety of birdlife from your tented camps.
Itinerary
Arrive Livingstone Airport, where you are met by a Cox & Kings representative and continue directly to do the tour of the falls. Victoria Falls is one of the world’s largest waterfalls with a width of 5604 feet and a height of 354 feet. Continue on by road to Toka Leya, your luxury tented camp situated within the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park. Toka Leya – 1-night (D)
Today, you will have a scheduled road transfer from Toka Leya to Livingstone Airport for a scheduled light aircraft transfer to Kasane, Botswana, where you will continue on a Chobe River boat cruise. This area is famous for its vast herds of elephants in the dry season and other unique species such as the elusive puku and Chobe bushbuck. Enjoy a light lunch on the boat cruise. Afterward return to Kasane airport for a scheduled light aircraft transfer to the Linyanti Reserve. Linyanti Discoverer Camp – 3-nights (B, L, D)
Enjoy early morning and late afternoon and night game drives within the private Linyanti Reserve. The seldom-seen sitatunga can be spotted in the waterways, as well as rare roan and sable antelope, plains game and of course their predators, the lion and leopard, with the endangered wild dog as an incredible bonus. It is possible to enjoy a full-day excursion to the Savute Channel, now flowing for the first time in three decades, with lunch at a scenic setting. (B, L, D)
Enjoy a scheduled light aircraft transfer from Linyanti to the Khwai Concession in the Moremi Game Reserve at the edge of Botswana’s Okavango Delta. The Khwai Concession is one of the most diverse areas in northern Botswana. Khwai Discoverer Camp – 3-nights (B, L, D)
Enjoy twice daily game drives and mokoro excursions. The Khwai Channel is home to large mammals such as hippo and crocodile with buffalo and red lechwe often seen grazing along the fringe. The woodland found along the river provides sanctuary to birds, primates and leopard. Elusive roan antelope often come to the river to drink. The mopane woodland together with the permanent presence of water attracts large numbers of elephant to the area. Larger predators include lion, wild dog and spotted hyena, while birdlife found here is just as varied. (B, L, D)
Enjoy your scheduled light aircraft transfer from Khwai to Seba Camp in the Abu Concession, one of the most vast private concessions in Africa with over 400,000 acres of land for the exclusive viewing of wildlife to very few guests at a time. Seba Camp boasts 8 tented rooms, all en suite with private viewing decks. Seba Camp – 3-nights (B, L, D)
Enjoy early morning and late afternoon and night game drives within the enormous Abu Concession. In addition to the large elephant population, a seasonal abundance of game graces the area: giraffe, zebra, impala, wildebeest, tessebe and lechwe. Lion frequent the greater area and herds of buffalo are also occasional visitors to Seba Camp. Bird enthusiasts will be pleased to know that over 380 species are found in the region. During winter Seba Camp is transformed into a water camp, with water-based activities taking precedence, such as mokoro and motorboat excursions, including fishing as an option. (B, L, D)
