Along the way, sample of South Africa’s most renowned wines, visit the Cape of Good Hope’s penguin colony and watch rainbows in the mist at majestic Victoria Falls.
Itinerary
Upon arrival in Cape Town, you will be welcomed by your Cox & Kings local representative and transferred to your luxury hotel. Cape Cadogan is a chic, boutique hotel in the heart of the city. One&Only Cape Town sits on the popular Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, within walking distance of shops, restaurants and the Two Oceans Aquarium. Cape Cadogan or One&Only Cape Town – 4-nights
After a leisurely morning, your private guide will take you up majestic Table Mountain, over 3,500 feet above sea level, by cable car, then for a walk through the Company Gardens, formally established in 1652 by Dutch settlers. Late this afternoon, board the Spirit of Victoria, a traditionally designed 58-foot gaff-rigged schooner, for a relaxing cruise to view the sunset from Cape Town’s lovely natural harbor. (B)
Choose from our Connoisseur’s wine experience with Trevor Earl, or our “wine-less” journey through the museums and architecture of the wine region. Enjoy tastings of high-quality reds and whites as well as Cap Classiques (South African “Champagnes”) in areas including Constantia, Franschhoek, Paarl and Stellenbosch. If architecture and history are more your style, visit some classic examples of Cape Dutch buildings from the 1700s and 1800s and museums that chronicle the slave trade and 100 years of local automotive history. (B, L)
Depart the city on our quintessential private peninsula journey. Traverse Chapman’s Peak Drive, enjoy vistas from the famous Cape Point Lighthouse and visit the fabled Cape of Good Hope. After lunch at a coastal restaurant, visit Boulders Beach, to get up close and personal with a colony of African Penguins. Head home through the picturesque fishing villages and seaside havens where Atlantic & Indian Oceans meet. (B, L)
Fly via Nelspruit to the Lion Sands Private Game Reserve in the world-famous Sabi Sand. River Lodge features 18 elegant, en suite rooms, while Ivory Lodge boasts six exclusive suites. Lion Sands River Lodge or Ivory Lodge – 3-nights (B, D)
Enjoy twice-daily game drives searching for the “big five” as well as cheetah, hyena, hippo and much more. Immerse yourself in the bush with astronomy activities, guided bush walks, meals in the bush, wildlife lectures and the Chalkley Treehouse. The treehouse is an optional addition allowing you to sleep beneath the stars. (B, L, D)
Fly via Nelspruit today to Livingstone, Zambia, where you will find yourself on the banks of the Zambezi River, just upstream from the mighty Victoria Falls. Your luxurious tented camp is set in the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park and features 12 elegant, tented suites with en suite bathrooms. Toka Leya Camp – 2-nights (B, D)
Enjoy a private tour of the falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. This afternoon, do some exploring on your own or embark on an optional activity such as a game drive, a visit to a local village or a museum tour. (B, L, D)
Fly today into Botswana’s Okavango Delta and to your deluxe tented safari camp, featuring en suite bathrooms and private decks. The small nature of the camps in Botswana and vast tracts of private land create one of the most exclusive, intimate safari experiences in Africa. Xigera Camp or similar – 3-nights (B, L, D)
Enjoy twice-daily game drives, walks and river excursions in mokoros (traditional dugout canoes). The unique waterways of the Delta create an environment where predators, antelope, elephant, buffalo and prolific birdlife all flourish. (B, L, D)
Fly via Maun today to Johannesburg to connect with your onward flight. (B)
