Itinerary
Upon arrival in Cairo, you will be welcomed by your Cox & Kings local representative and transferred to your luxury hotel overlooking the great Nile River. Four Seasons at Nile Plaza (Nile View Room) – 3-nights
Discover the iconic Great Pyramids at Giza, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Then embark on a voyage to pharaonic times at the fascinating Solar Boat Museum. This afternoon, travel to the famed city of Memphis and nearby Saqqara where you can see the ancient Step Pyramid. Return to Giza for the incredible sound-and-light show at the Great Pyramids. (B)
Pay a morning visit to the great Egyptian Museum, repository to the most extensive collection of pharaonic antiquities in the world, including the spectacular treasures of the boy king Tutankhamen. This afternoon, follow your own path and explore or relax as you like. (B)
Take to the skies as you fly south to Luxor. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel overlooking the Nile and visit the Luxor Museum. As night falls, attend the electrifying sound-and-light show at stunning Karnak Temple. Hilton Luxor Resort (Deluxe Nile View Room) – 1-night (B)
This morning, board the Alexander the Great yacht and enjoy a first lunch on board before disembarking to continue your exploration of Karnak Temple and Luxor Temple. Option: Soar above the Valley of the Kings on a hot air balloon ride in Luxor.
Disembark in Luxor to visit the West Bank and explore the tombs in the stunning Valley of Kings, including the tomb of Ramses VI, which boasts the most sophisticated decorative designs in the area. Then it’s back on board for lunch and you sail to Esna. Enjoy this evening’s Captain’s welcome cocktail party followed by dinner on board. (B, L, D)
This morning, disembark in Edfu to visit the famed temple of the Falcon God Horus. Savor lunch on board and then sail on to Kom Ombo to see the massive temple shared by the gods Sobek and Harocies. After dinner, kick up your heels at a festive party to celebrate your Nile journey. (B, L, D)
As you arrive in Aswan, disembark to admire the High Dam, an engineering marvel, and the lovely Temple of Philae. After lunch on the ship, embark on a traditional felucca for a scenic sail around Kitchener’s Island. Back on board, immerse yourself in Nubian culture with a colorful song-and-dance performance following dinner. (B, L, D)
Disembark in Luxor this morning and transfer to the airport for your flight to Abu Simbel and a tour of the rock-hewn Temples of Ramses II. Return by air to the bustling capital. Four Seasons at Nile Plaza (Nile View Room) – 2-nights (B)
This morning, marvel at the highlights of Islamic and Coptic Cairo, and visit the Ben Ezra Synagogue, which according to legend was built on the site where the Baby Moses was found in the reeds. Stop at the Gayer-Anderson Museum for a glimpse of 17th-century life in Cairo and visit the elegant Ibn Tulun mosque. Savor a tasty lunch at Naguib Mahfouz Restaurant before embarking on an exploration of the labyrinth of shops and alleyways in the ancient Khan el-Khalili Souq. (B, L)
