Mongolia: Land of Blue Sky — NEW!
The Mongolian people have a rich history, stretching back to the empire of Genghis Khan. Their vast country is one of amazing natural beauty, largely untouched by the modern world. From the stark Gobi desert and the icy mountains to the grassy steppes where wild horses and nomads roam, explore one of the world’s last great wilderness regions. If you like, choose one of two departures specially designed to allow you to attend the world-famous Naadam festival in July.

Discovery Tour: While a visit to Mongolia is a vastly rewarding experience, it is a wilderness destination. The accommodation is basic and, except in Ulaanbaatar, you will stay in gers – large, traditional heated tents with communal bathrooms. Cox & Kings uses the best gers available. Traveling is over long distances in 4x4s and sometimes over rough terrain. Dating from the Genghis Khan era, the Naadam festival is a showcase for traditional sporting events and a celebration
enjoyed throughout Mongolia from July 11 to 13. The most spectacular events for visitors take place at the National Stadium in Ulaanbaatar, where nomads compete in wrestling, archery and horsemanship. Both the June 30 and July 10 tours include the colorful opening ceremony and first day of the festival. Upon request, your travel consultant can provide an exact price based on your specific dates of travel.
