Southeast Asia Discovery

From awe-inspiring coastlines to snow capped mountains, rolling landscapes fed by the monsoon rains and frenetic cities buzzing with energy, Southeast Asia’s landscapes are incredibly diverse. On this journey, cruise the Mekong, stroll through colonial Hanoi, ride an elephant through the lush forest, go underground to explore the Cu Chi tunnels and discover the wondrous temples of Angkor. Itinerary

Day 1
Arrive Bangkok
Upon arrival in Bangkok, you will be welcomed by your Cox & Kings local representative and transferred to your hotel. The Peninsula (Deluxe Room) – 2 nights
Day 2
Bangkok
After breakfast, listen to the sonorous chants of the monks at Wat Po, marvel at the reclining Buddha and admire the Emerald Buddha at the Grand Palace. This afternoon, stroll through Chinatown, stop at the Bangkok Folk Museum (closed on Monday and Tuesday) and cruise the Chao Phraya River to the Temple of Dawn. (B)
Day 3
To Chiang Mai
Fly north to Chiang Mai. Spend the afternoon at leisure and then visit the colorful night market. Four Seasons – 3 nights (B)
Day 4
Chiang Mai
Take a scenic drive to Chiang Dao for an elephant ride along the river. After lunch, take a tranquil bamboo raft trip down the Mae Ping River. (B)
Day 5
Chiang Mai
In the morning, visit a White Hmong tribal village to learn about their traditional lifestyle. Next, admire the stunning views from the temple of Wat Phra That Doi Suthep. After lunch at a local restaurant, visit several of Chiang Mai’s Buddhist temples and the area’s largest market. (B)
Day 6
To Hanoi
Bid farewell to Thailand and fly to Hanoi. Upon arrival, visit the Temple of Literature and the Lake of the Restored Sword. Then hop aboard a cyclo (cycle rickshaw) for a tour of the Old Quarter. Sofitel Legend Metropole (Grand Premium) – 1 night (B)
Day 7
To Halong Bay
Embark on an overnight cruise through the emerald waters of Halong Bay. From your comfortable boat, marvel at the stunning limestone landscapes of this UNESCO World Heritage site. Jasmine Cruise (Deluxe Cabin) – 1 night (B, L, D)
Day 8
To Hoi An
Enjoy brunch on board before returning to Hanoi and disembark.

Option: En route to Hanoi, stop at a village to enjoy a performance of the traditional Vietnamese art of water puppetry.

Day 9
To Hoi An
Take a walking tour of the ancient town center. Spend the afternoon at leisure or relax on pristine Cua Dai Beach. (B)
Day 10
To Saigon
Fly to Saigon and tour the bustling Chinatown district, Thien Hau Pagoda and Binh Tay Market. This afternoon, stroll around colonial Saigon. Park Hyatt Hotel (Park Room) – 1 night (B)

Option: Late afternoon, visit Truc Mai House (a family of local artists) for a musical performance.
Day 11
To Siem Reap
Explore the Cu Chi Tunnels, an incredible underground network constructed by the Viet Cong. Afternoon fly to Siem Reap. Enter the ancient city of Angkor Thom through the massive South Gate, then visit the Bayon temple and the terraces of the Elephants and the Leper King. Hotel De La Paix (Garden View Room) – 2 nights (B)
Day 12
Siem Reap
Visit the jungle temple of Ta Prohm, which has been left as it was discovered. Stop at Banteay Kdei, a Buddhist monastery, and the pool of Srah Srang. Alternatively, visit the village of Kampong Kliang on the shores of Lake Tonle Sap. In the afternoon, you will be transferred to the airport for your international flight. (B)
Day 13
Depart Siem Reap
Journey by road to Hoi An passing through the picturesque fishing village of Lang Co before driving over the spectacular Hai Van pass (meaning pass of the ocean clouds). Nam Hai Resort (B)
