Itinerary
Arrive into the city of dreams – Mumbai where you will be met and transferred to the hotel. The Taj Mahal Palace (Luxury Grande Sea View Room, Palace Wing) – 2 nights
Explore Mumbai’s kaleidoscopic past and vibrant present as you see some of the landmarks today. Visit India’s largest open-air laundry and stroll through a bustling Crawford Market. (B)
This morning, see a 5000-year-old collection of Indus valley artifacts. Late this afternoon, transfer to the railroad station and settle into your private cabin as you begin your journey through Princely India. (B, D)
After a leisurely breakfast, travel in a convoy of cars to the hamlet of Jambhughoda where you dine on the royal cuisine of the feudal lords of Jambhughoda Palace. En-route make a brief stop at the World Heritage Site of Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park. This afternoon visit the Maharaja Fateh Singh Museum. Enjoy supper at the magnificent Laxmi Vilas Palace and return to the train for your onward journey. (B, L, D)
As you eat breakfast, admire the rugged Aravalli Hills. Disembark in Udaipur to visit the City Palace, followed by a royal lunch. If you like, take an optional walking tour of the Old Market. Return to the luxury of the train. (B, L, D)
Arrive into the Blue City of Jodhpur through dramatic landscape of the Thar Desert. Following lunch, take a walking tour of the Old Clock Tower market. Then walk in the footsteps of royalty in the magnificent Meherangarh Fort for a Royal Cocktail evening with regional culinary delights served in the open-air courtyard. Then it’s onward through the desert towards Bikaner. (B, L, D)
Upon arrival, relax on board or embark on an optional tour. Following lunch, disembark and visit the Junagarh Fort, an unassailable fortress built in 1593 AD. This afternoon, join a caravan of decorated camel carts accompanied by musicians for Sundowner Cocktails and a barbecue dinner on the dunes. Later, return to the comfort of the train for a journey to Jaipur. (B, L, D)
In the Pink City of Jaipur, experience an Exhibition Elephant Polo Match as the royal military band and the beating of nagadas (huge Indian drums) welcome you to the venue. After a celebratory cocktail lunch, take a trip to the Amber Fort or enjoy one of the optional tours. Enjoy dinner on board the train. (B, L, D)
Look for the elusive tigers on a safari in Ranthambore National Park, the former private hunting ground of the Maharajas. Return to the train for a hearty lunch and continue your journey to the fabled Mughal city of Fatehpur Sikri. Later, enjoy a festive Indian dinner on board. (B, L, D)
Early morning, visit the world-renowned Taj Mahal. Enjoy a champagne breakfast while gazing at this splendid marble monument from atop the Taj Khema. Relish a hearty lunch on board as you take the last leg of your train journey to Delhi. The Imperial (Heritage Room) – 2 nights (B, L)
This morning explore Old Delhi and visit Shah Jahan’s Jama Masjid and Raj Ghat — the moving memorial to Mahatma Gandhi. In New Delhi, see the Qutab Minar, a masterpiece of perfect proportions, and the garden tomb of Emperor Humayun. (B)
Transfer to Delhi’s International Airport for your onward flight. (B)
