Itinerary

Day 1
Arrive Delhi
Upon arrival in the capital city of Delhi, you will be transferred to your hotel. The Imperial (Heritage Room) – 3 nights
Day 2
Delhi
Explore Old Delhi’s Red Fort (closed on Monday), an opulent bastion of the Mughal Empire. Also visit Shah Jahan’s Jama Masjid mosque, one of the largest mosques in the world. After lunch at a local restaurant, enjoy some time to explore on your own. (B, L)

Option: Tempt your taste buds on a fine dining experience in a specialty restaurant.

Day 3
Delhi
Get acquainted with the highlights of New Delhi including the red sandstone tower of Qutab Minar; the garden tomb of Emperor Humayun; and the imposing India Gate. Savor lunch at a local restaurant. (B, L)

Option: Explore the Mehrauli Archaeological Park with a specialist.

Day 4
To Agra
Board your train and ride the rails to Agra. Visit the exquisite white marble mausoleum of the Taj Mahal (closed on Friday), which Emperor Shah Jahan built as a shrine to everlasting love for his queen, Mumtaz Mahal. Continue to the magnificent Agra Fort, once the stronghold of the Mughal Empire. The Oberoi Amarvilas (Premier Room with balcony) – 1 night (B)
Day 5
To Jaipur
Drive to Jaipur, en-route visit Fatehpur Sikri, the enigmatic red sandstone city built by Emperor Akbar and stop for lunch at a local restaurant. Continue your journey to arrive in princely Jaipur. Rambagh Palace (Palace Room) – 3 nights (B, L)
Day 6
Jaipur
Look down upon Maota Lake and the historic old city from the ramparts of the Amber Fort. Then, admire Hawa Mahal, before enjoying lunch at a local restaurant. (B, L)
Day 7
Jaipur
Explore the history of Rajasthan’s Pink City at the City Palace Museum and marvel at its collection of Rajasthani costumes, weaponry, miniature paintings and rare astronomical works. (B)

Option: Enjoy an elephant trek followed by romantic champagne breakfast.

Day 8
To Nimaj
Get a taste of rural Indian life as your hosts introduce you to the local culture and ancient temples of their region. Visit a local farm to understand their methods of organic farming. Chhatra Sagar Tented Camp – 1 night (B, L, D)
Day 9
To Jodhpur
Drive to Jodhpur, flanked on its west by Meherangarh Fort and on the east by the stately Umaid Bhawan Palace. Umaid Bhawan Palace (Palace Room) – 2 nights (B)
Day 10
Jodhpur
Begin with a tour of Meherangarh Fort. The forbidding ramparts of this fort are in stark contrast to its richly decorated palaces. Later, explore the teeming markets – famous for fabrics, paintings and silver jewelry. (B)
Day 11
To Udaipur
En-route to Udaipur – the former Mewar capital set on the shores of Lake Pichola – visit the Ranakpur Temples, one of the largest and most important Jain temple complexes in India. Enjoy lunch before you arrive in Udaipur. Taj Lake Palace (Palace Room) – 2 nights (B, L)

Option: Savor a pontoon dinner on lovely Lake Pichola.

Day 12
Udaipur
Discover the City Palace and its inner bastions, composed of palaces, courtyards and gardens. In the Crystal Gallery, marvel at the exquisite, spun-glass furnishings and decorations. (B)
Day 13
To Mumbai
Fly to the cosmopolitan city of Mumbai. The Taj Mahal Palace (Luxury Grande Sea View Room, Palace Wing) – 2 nights (B)
Day 14
Mumbai
Walk down the old streets in the heart of the city, and immerse yourself in the pageant of Mumbai’s kaleidoscopic past and vibrant present. (B)
Day 15
Depart Mumbai
Transfer to Mumbai’s International Airport for your onward flight. (B)
