One of the key factors that deter many people from traveling is the cost. Many people believe that the cost of airfare, hotels, food and sightseeing will be too much for their budget. However, there are many places throughout the world where the dollar is strong against the local currency, meaning everything from a nice hotel room to meals out is much less expensive. Here are a few of the cities where the dollar is still going strong.
If you’re hoping to spend time in Europe and you want to save money, Brasov is the place for you. The beautiful city is full of historical buildings and castles, including Bran Castle, which famously was the fictional home to Bram Stoker’s Dracula. If you’re looking for souvenirs, the city has many art galleries full of locally made folk art and woodcarvings. Brasov is perfect for those people who want to learn about European history without having to pay the high prices in Western Europe.
For warm weather and cheap prices, head to Bangkok. The city is known for its inexpensive lodging and food. It’s also home to many beautiful temples, including Wat Pho and Wat Phra Kaew. If you’re into fashion, you can buy fabric or have clothing made for you at much lower prices than you would find for a similar service in the United States.
Vietnam has become a popular tourist destination in recent years, but even with the influx in visitors, the dollar is still strong. There are many interesting things to see in Hanoi, including the Tran Quoc Pagoda and the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum. Locally made handicrafts in Hanoi range in price from 3-7 dollars, and you’ll also find beautiful silk for low prices in shops throughout the city.
Buenos Aires, Argentina
Buenos Aires is known for its beautiful weather, delicious food, and for being the home of tango dancing. But what you may not realize is that Buenos Aires is a budget-friendly destination. There are many deals to be found in hotels in the city. If you want to take souvenirs home, you’ll find plenty of leather items that are made in Argentina, like boots, handbagsand wallets.
The beautiful city of Istanbul is another great place to stretch your dollar. You’ll find reasonably priced hotels throughout the city, and many of the popular tourist sites like the Basilica Cistern and Galata Tower are low priced. If you want to bring home Turkish gifts, try buying Turkish apple tea or lemon cologne, both of which can be found for cheap.
Traveling on a budget is easy when you go to places where the dollar is strong. Try these cities for your next vacation, and you’ll be amazed at how far your dollar goes.
