Manager, Airline Relationships and Operations


Position Title: Manager, Airline Relationships and Operations
Department: Air Department
Reports to: TBD
Status: Full-time or contract
Location: Los Angeles (preferred)

Position Summary:

Cox & Kings, The Americas, is seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial Manager of Airline Relationships and Operations. The ideal candidate will have proven experience negotiating airfare contracts on behalf of a tour operator or airline and possess thorough knowledge in airline ticketing processes. This position may be home based depending on the candidate.

Responsibilities include:

Business development, relationship management, and strategy:

  • Develop and execute the company's airline contracting strategy, identifying when to obtain tour operator fares vs. ad hoc group fares, and identifying which airlines and consolidators to utilize based on company objectives
  • Negotiate favorable tour operator and ad hoc group fares and commercial terms to achieve company's objectives
  • Develop and/or strength company's relationships with airlines

Operations:

  • Establish Cox & Kings, The Americas' airline department, consisting of C&K team members and team members at global HQ
  • In conjunction with our airfare team at global HQ, establish best practices and policies for ticketing and to increase company's airline ticket sales
  • Oversee the implementation of commercial agreements; serve as key point-of-contact between airline, GDS and ticketing teams (C&K and external) to ensure negotiated fares are utilized and ticketed properly
  • Work with operations and product teams to ensure adequate inventory has been contracted; ensure company's adherence to commercial terms (deposit dates, release dates, etc. if applicable) and with external and internal reporting requirements (e.g., ARC)
  • Assist with the setup of GDS training and other training programs that will help ensure swift ticketing operations
  • Serve as the key point-of-contact for all matters related to airline contracting and ticketing at the company
  • Provide guidance and assist with last-minute ticketing issuance/reissuance needs

Primary qualifications:

  • Proven success in negotiating airfare agreements on behalf of a tour operator and/or airline
  • Preferred 7+ years of work experience, with 5+ years of experience with group, tour operator and FIT airfare contracting
  • Familiarity with GDS (experience with Sabre is a plus)
  • Possess deep knowledge on airline ticketing
  • Ability to successfully interact with internal and external stakeholders across geographies, cultures and management levels
  • Possesses an entrepreneurial, get-stuff-done attitude; be a self-starter and a team player
  • Desire to develop an industry leading air team and to be recognized as an industry leader

Destination Specialist


Department: Destination Sales
Reports to: Director, Client Services & Operations
Location: Los Angeles or New York

Position Summary

Cox & Kings is seeking an experienced destination specialist (tour consultant) to join our team.

The ideal candidate will have over seven years of experience as a destination specialist, a proven record of designing and selling custom-tailored luxury and experiential trips, and a passion for providing excellent and rapid customer service to travel agents and clients.



Responsibilities of the destination specialist include:

  • Qualifying leads and developing a deep understanding of travelers' needs, preferences and travel budgets
  • Designing detailed itineraries that inspire, reflect the travelers' preferences and budget, and are smart logistically
  • Converting proposed itineraries into bookings; meet and exceed targets related to sales, agent and client satisfaction, team work, and destination knowledge
  • Providing superior and rapid customer service that exceed agent and client expectations before, during and following a trip
  • Maintaining and deepening relationships with agents, clients, team members and local (in country, on-the-ground) partners; liaising with them to ensure that pre-trip and on-trip services are rendered smoothly and to address any needs or issues that arise. Conduct post-trip follow-up and understand clients' future travel needs
  • Ensuring company's CRM databases are kept up to date
  • Maintaining and developing further expertise on products and services offered; represent Cox & Kings and share expertise with colleagues and at consumer and trade events

Skills and requirements:

  • Minimum 5+ years of designing and selling custom-tailored luxury and experiential travel
  • Proven track record in meeting and exceeding sales targets
  • Demonstrable, extensive (and first-hand) knowledge of products and services offered in the destinations listed above
  • Possess excellent customer service, written and verbal communication, and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to meet aggressive deadlines and to work with VIP clients and agents
  • Passion and ability to travel: participate/host familiarization trips and represent Cox & Kings at consumer and trade events on an ad hoc basis
  • Possess creativity and a get-stuff-done attitude; be a self-starter and a team player
  • Desire to be recognized as an industry leader, to be the "go to" person for the destinations your represent
  • Comfort and experience with CRM systems is a plus
  • Fluency in a foreign language is a plus but not required
