On board The Cruise
Embark on a luxurious cruise deep into the heart of the Amazon rainforest on the Napo River. Visit local villages to meet the inhabitants of this remote region, paddle a canoe on the waters of a narrow tributary surrounded by jungle and search for the endangered pink river dolphin and voracious piranha.
Day 1Arrive Quito / Coca / Napo River / Yasuni National Park
Fly from Quito to Coca where you transfer to the Napo River for a downstream trip to your home for the next three nights, the M/V Anakonda. Board your ship and watch the forest pass by from the comfortable sundeck.
After dinner, disembark the ship and take a guided nocturnal walk into the forest.M/V Anakonda - 3 Nights (D)
Continue downstream toward the Pañayacu River delta where you’ll board a canoe to search for pink river dolphins, squirrel monkeys and tropical birds. After visiting Piranha Lake, relish a delicious Amazonian barbeque. This afternoon, take a guided walk along a forest trail to learn more about the native flora of the Amazon rainforest, as well as traditional ways of life of the indigenous people who call this area home.M/V Anakonda (B, L, D)
Disembark the ship to visit a local village before traveling to a parrot clay lick where you can admire dozens of brightly colored tropical birds congregate. After lunch, take another jungle hike and learn more about the local animals. If conditions permit, paddle downstream to the Napo River where your ship is waiting. On your final night in the Amazaon, savor a sumptuous dinner. Then head outside to admire the thousands of stars in the dark skies above the river.M/V Anakonda (B, L, D)
Day 4Depart Amazon
Bid farewell to your ship, and take a canoe back to Coca from where you fly to Quito and your onward flight.(B)
